 Catching up with former Buck Zach <\/strong>Schreiber<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\n\\\"\\\"This week, we are catching up with former Buck Zach Schreiber.  The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native played high school ball for Xavier High School before attending Duke University.  Zach pitched for the Waterloo Bucks during the 2001 season.  Zach stands 6’1" and weighs a commanding 200lbs on the mound.  <\/p>\n

In the one season he pitched for the Bucks, Zach had an 0-2 record, 1.65 ERA, 11 saves, and 32 strike outs in 26 game appearances.  Quite surprisingly, the 2001 season was the year Zach was just a Freshman in college.  He continued to play for other teams during the next 3 season before getting drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 2004 Amateur Draft (16th round, #491). <\/p>\n

Coming out of college, Zach was put into the Braves minor league system.  In 2005–his first full season– Zach pitched primarily for the Rome Braves<\/em> of the (A) before moving up to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans<\/em> (A+) where he stayed for the rest of the season.  Zach continued to climb the minor leagues and reached his peak in the 2008 season when he pitched 34 games for the Richmond Braves<\/em> of triple A. <\/p>\n

After his peak in the 2008 season, Zach dropped down to the single A team Inland Empire 66ers <\/em>before he decided to hang up the glove. Overall, during the minors, Zach had posted some strong stats.  He had a 10-15 record with a 2.55 ERA, 42 saves, and 265 strike outs in 276 innings pitched in 205 appearances.  <\/p>\n

Zach will always be remembered as a Waterloo Buck, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.  <\/p>\n
