Waterloo, IA – With the Waterloo second-half record set at 0-0, the Bucks faced the Kenosha Kingfish on a humid July 3rd night and took the first game by a score of 9-6.<\/p>\n

The Bucks offense scored in six of the eight offensive half-innings that they batted in and it showed that the Bucks are just as hot as before. Starting in the first inning, Chase Beatties knocked in Larry Edwards Jr with an RBI single, then in the second Lucas Moore scored Edwards Jr again, this time with a double.<\/p>\n

Of Waterloo’s 13 hits, five were doubles, and one was a home run. Edwards Jr had three hits and the top three batters in the lineup (Edwards Jr, Moore, Wilmes) combined for eight of the 13 knocks.
\nAcross the fourth and fifth innings, the Bucks scored five runs with the big runs coming from a two-run single from Ben Wilmes in the bottom of the fourth, and a lead-off solo home run in the fifth from Matthew Stancliffe Jr.<\/p>\n

The Bucks led 9-2 going into the seventh inning and Kingfish kept fighting to keep it close. With a four spot in the top of the seventh, the game was within three, 9-6.<\/p>\n

Waterloo’s back-end of the bullpen closed the game with lock-down help from right-handed arms Chaney Trout and Sam Skarich to keep the lead at bay and win game one.<\/p>\n

The Bucks and Kingfish are set to battle in game two on July 4th, with the first pitch coming at 6:35 PM<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
