\nWaterloo, IA – With the completion of the 2012 Northwoods League season, this year’s Waterloo Bucks’ squad will be remembered as one of the best hitting teams in both franchise and league history. After finishing the season with a 34-35 record, the Bucks set multiple single-season records in offensive productivity.<\/span><\/span><\/divre>\n
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

Waterloo set a new NWL record for runs batted in with 406. That trumps the previous league record for RBI of 387 set by the 1999 Rochester Honkers. Previously, the best single-season mark in RBI by the Bucks was 376 in 1998.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Bucks scored 465 runs in 2012, eclipsing the previous league record of 452 set by Waterloo in 1998. However, the Alexandria Beetles trumped the Bucks’ ’12 mark by scoring 473 runs of their own.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the total bases category, Waterloo entered the season as the league record holder with 984 set in 1997.  This year’s Bucks squad leaped that total, finishing the season with 1,027.  While that mark set a new team record, both Alexandria and the Duluth Huskies finished the year with more total bases.  The Beetles set a new league record with 1,057, while Duluth finished second in the NWL with 1,032.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Waterloo eclipsed the previous league record in hits, 681, set by the Madison Mallards in 2010, finishing the year with 696.  However, both Alexandria and Duluth finished the season with more, as the Beetles knocked 746 hits compared to the Huskies’ 721.  Waterloo’s previous team record was 680, set in 1997.<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, the Bucks set a new team record for home runs with 54.  That mark is five dongs better than the club’s 1997 total of 49. As a side note, the 2012 Waterloo squad was not shut out during the entire season.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In other news, Cottleville, Missouri native Jake Powers finished the season with the NWL’s best fielding percentage for a pitcher. The sophomore from Missouri State University had zero errors in 22 total chances on the year, garnering him a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Infielder Thomas Lindauer, originally from Moline, Illinois, finished the season with the most putouts by a shortstop with 113. The University of Illinois sophomore played in 62 games and was involved in 39 double plays. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nUniversity of Illinois outfielder Davis Hendrickson, a 2011 NWL mid-season All-Star, finished 2012 with 10 assists, the most of any outfielder in the league. The junior from Macomb, Illinois played in 53 games and committed just one error on the year. <\/span><\/span><\/divre>\n
