This week in Catching Up With the Bucks, we are taking a look at former Buck Evan Reed.  Reed played for the Bucks in 2005 while attending the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.  With the Bucks, he appeared in 17 games, finished with an 0-1 record, 7.09 ERA, and struck out 24 batters in 26.2 innings. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers<\/span> in the 3rd round (110th overall) in the 2007 MLB Amateur Draft.  <\/p>\n

Reed was a starter for his first couple seasons in the minor leagues but was converted to a reliever for the 2009 season.  In 2009, Reed spent his time with Advanced A Bakersfield. While in Bakersfield he appeared in 46 games, posting a 2.96 ERA in 48 2\/3 innings, and averaged 12 strikeouts per nine innings.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Reed split time between a few minor league teams while moving his way up the system.  Starting the season in Double-A Frisco, Reed appeared in 30 games, and pitched a total of 39 innings and struck out 34 batters while maintaining a 1.62 ERA.  Reed was then traded to the Florida Marlins and reached Triple-A, but underwent Tommy John sugery in 2011. He rebounded in 2012, going 5-4 in 67 1\/3 innings at Jacksonville and New Orleans. <\/p>\n

At the end of spring training this season, Reed was claimed off waivers by the Detroit Tigers and was called up to the major leagues on May 15th. He pitched four innings in two games before being called back down to Triple-A Toledo. Last week, the Tigers called him up once again.  Reed has appeared in four games this season, posting a 4.05 ERA in 5.2 innings. He has allowed three runs off nine hits, and struck out four batters. <\/p>\n
