{"id":18952,"date":"2025-08-02T00:42:42","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T05:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/waterloo-bucks\/?p=18952"},"modified":"2025-09-08T12:08:42","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T17:08:42","slug":"bucks-to-host-college-football-day-at-riverfront-on-september-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/waterloo-bucks\/2025\/08\/02\/bucks-to-host-college-football-day-at-riverfront-on-september-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Bucks to Host College Football Day at Riverfront on September 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Waterloo, IA \u2013 The Waterloo Bucks have announced they will host College Football Day at Riverfront on Saturday, September 6.\u00a0 That day, the 474-square-foot Riverfront Stadium LED video board will show the annual Cy-Hawk game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones at 11:00 am followed by the UNI Panthers at Wyoming Cowboys contest at 3:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>Gates at Riverfront Stadium will open at 10:30 am.\u00a0 There will be free admission, and fans are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair and sit on the field to watch the games.\u00a0 No outside food or drink will be allowed, as a concessions stand will be open.<\/p>\n<p>The Bucks recently wrapped up their 2025 campaign with a 42-30 record, the second-best overall record in the Great Plains East.\u00a0 Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks by utilizing their website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waterloobucks.com\/\">www.waterloobucks.com<\/a> or utilizing the Northwoods League Mobile App.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"># # #<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Waterloo Bucks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Now in its\u2019 32<sup>nd<\/sup> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in history with 24 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, nearly 2400 NWL alums have been drafted and over 400 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (TOR), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford and World Series Champion Chris Sale (ATL). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2023 World Series Champion, MLB All-Star, MLB Gold Glove, two-time Silver Slugger winner and two-time All-MLB first team shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
