Waterloo, Iowa – The Waterloo Bucks have partnered with the Northwoods League Foundation to provide a set of team equipment from Rawlings to an area youth baseball team.\u00a0 The Foundation\u2019s grant, which is part of the \u201cShare the Glove\u201d initiative, is one of 26 grants to be awarded in each NWL community.<\/p>\n

The Northwoods League Foundation is donating youth Rawlings baseball and softball equipment this Spring.\u00a0 Each grant will include one set of catcher\u2019s gear, nine fielding gloves, six batting helmets, three bats, and one bucket of practice balls.\u00a0 Thirteen baseball grants and thirteen softball grants will be awarded in total throughout the NWL\u2019s footprint.<\/p>\n

The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to receive the grant:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Organization qualifies, or would qualify, as a 501(c)(3) organization, school or school-based program, or community-based organ\"\"<\/a>ization as defined under US IRC section 501(c)(3)<\/em>;<\/li>\n
  2. Organization is not an individual, for-profit business, political, or religious organization;<\/li>\n
  3. Organization provides opportunities for kids ages 9-12 to play baseball or softball within a community that is served by a Northwoods League affiliate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

     <\/p>\n

    The Waterloo Bucks are taking applications for the grant until May 11th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The team or organization who is selected to receive the grant will be notified by June 8th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The Bucks will then coordinate to present the recipients on the field during a Bucks game this summer.<\/p>\n

    The \u201cShare the Glove\u201d Grant Application may be found at www.waterloobucks.com<\/a> as an online application or as a downloadable pdf<\/a>.\u00a0 Completed Grant Application pdfs may be returned to Bucks Stadium & Concessions Operations Manager Matthew Borsheim at mborsheim@waterloobucks.com<\/a> or via mail at PO Box 4124, Waterloo, IA 50704 by the May 11th<\/sup> deadline.<\/p>\n

    The Waterloo Bucks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Now in its\u2019 32nd<\/sup> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in history with 24 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, nearly 2400 NWL alums have been drafted and over 400 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (TOR), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford and World Series Champion Chris Sale (ATL). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2023 World Series Champion, MLB All-Star, MLB Gold Glove, two-time Silver Slugger winner and two-time All-MLB first team shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
