Rochester (MN) The Waterloo Bucks scored 11-runs in the second inning and routed the Rochester Honkers 15-3 on Saturday night at Mayo Field. David Kerian had four hits, including two homers, and four RBI to lead the Bucks second offensive onslaught in as many days.<\/p>\n
Kevin Needham clubbed a three-run homer and Chensy Young added three RBI.<\/p>\n
Landon Simpson allowed two earned runs and struckout four over six quality innings for the win.<\/p>\n
Rochester scored a run in the first inning, but by the end of the top of the second the outcome was clearly going to go in favor of the Bucks, who sent 16 batters to the plate and scored 11-runs.<\/p>\n
The inning began innocently enough with a John Ziznewski single, followed by a Kerian home run to right centerfield to put Waterloo up 2-1. Rochester starter Quinn Carpenter then walked Will Sparks but settled down to get the next two batters and appeared to be about to get out of the inning.<\/p>\n
However, 11 more batters would come up to hit before the final out.<\/p>\n
Jake Riffice walked and Austin Pernell reached on an infield single to load the bases. Young then drove in two runs with a single to make it 4-1. Jake Mahon then singled in two runs and it was 6-1.<\/p>\n
After walked to Ziznewski and Kerian loaded the bases, Sparks delivered a two-run single and it was 8-1.<\/p>\n
Needham then blasted a ball off the scoreboard in right center and it was 11-1 and the game was over at that point.<\/p>\n
Kerian added a RBI double in the third to make it 12-2, and then RBI singles by Young and Mahon in the fourth made the score 14-2.<\/p>\n
Kerian’s second homer, a no doubt shot to left, in the fifth made it 15-3 and that would be it for the scoring.<\/p>\n
Waterloo has now won eight straight over Rochester and go into Sunday’s action with 39 wins overall and a chance to go into the All-Star Break with 40 wins.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
