Kenosha, WI – Bucks pitching combines for a six-hit shutout over Kenosha in game one of the series. Cade Nolan went five strong to start the game and earn the win, while Sam Skarich came out of the Waterloo bullpen to close out the 2-0 victory and earn the save.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Cade Nolan was on cruise control from the get-go in his first appearance of the season. The Bucks right-hander went five innings with only one hit given up. He didn\u2019t issue any walks and struck out five Kingfish hitters en route to his first win of the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the top of the fourth inning, the Bucks’ offense gave Nolan a lead. Chase Porter reached on an infield single, then stole second and, on the same play, reached third on a throwing error. Next up, Caleb Parker rocketed a double down the left field line to plate the run and jump Waterloo in front 1-0.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Bucks bullpen picked up right where Nolan left off. Kai Purdy-Burton and Tyler Glowacki faced traffic, but each induced a double play to help get out of their respective innings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the top of the eighth, Waterloo got some insurance. Collin Brightwell went the other way on a single to right, then stole second and moved up to third on a groundout. With two outs in the frame, Brightwell scampered home on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the top of the ninth, Sam Skarich emerged to close things out. The first two Kenosha hitters reached on singles, but Skarich buckled down to strike out the final two hitters to shut the door and finish off the save in a 2-0 victory.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With the win, Waterloo goes to 5-2 on the season and 1-0 against the Kingfish. The rubber match is slated for 11:05 AM Monday morning. Evan Cooke is set to start for Kenosha opposite Cody Capelletti for the Bucks.<\/span><\/p>\n
