\n\tThe Bucks have gotten the memo that pitching is the key to success. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe night after a very solid outing from Cody Sedlock, and two nights after an exceptional outing from Tim Shannon, tonight was Drasen Johnson's opportunity to take the hill. He certainly did not disappoint. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tJohnson worked quickly and effectively all night, throwing just 60 pitches over his first six innings of work. He allowed one earned run, struck out four and allowed five hits before he was pulled going into the eight inning. Johnson took the win, his first of the season. <\/span>\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Bucks (3-1) handily defeated the Alexandria Blue Anchors (0-4) on Friday night, taking the second game of the two game series between the teams. \n<\/p>\n \n\tRobbie Mouton took the loss for Alexandria largely because of bad defense around him. He allowed one earned run, though four additional unearned runs came across. He pitched well enough to earn a victory, though shoddy defense all over the field did him in. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe bullpens of Waterloo and Alexandria seem to be units going in exact opposite directions. Thursday night saw the Bucks pen shutdown the last 12 Alexandria batters of the night, while Alexandria's gave up more runs in what was already a blowout. Friday night had similar results.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Bucks pen finished off the game strong, giving up no earned runs over two innings of work. On the other hand, Zach Muckenhirn came in for Alexandria and quickly gave up two runs, effectively putting the nail in the coffin for the winless Anchors. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Bucks will need to sharpen up their defense if they want to build on their current three game win streak, though. Two errors by right fielder Patrick Fiala, and one by left fielder Ryan Nagle, could have cost the Bucks if not for other strong performances from other players. \n<\/p>\n \n\tThe Bucks travel to Eau Claire for their next matchup, which will be a 6:35 p.m. battle against the Express. \n<\/p>\n \n\t <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Bucks have gotten the memo that pitching is the key to success.
