\n\tExpecting a repeat of 2013's phenomenal win loss record might be unrealistic. For the first time this season, though, the 2014 Bucks squad showed the talent and resiliency that is mandatory for succeeding in the Northwoods League. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tSunday afternoon's contest looked like it would may be over halfway through the second inning, as the Express sprinted to a quick four run lead. The Express made solid contact and drove in runs; the Bucks looked overmatched on both sides. What seemed like an imminent blowout ended abruptly, though.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tA two run double by Luke Stratman in the fifth inning, followed by a two run triple from Kevin Kaczmarski, ended up providing all of the runs the Bucks needed. The Bucks went on to score three more times, but the bullpen didn't need the extra help. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tNick Veale was credited with the victory for the Bucks. He came in to relieve starter Connor Dillman after just one inning, and was dominant from then on. He held the Express in check, allowing just one run over five innings. Logan Sherer came on for the final three innings and gave up just two hits while striking out three. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tIan Doughty took the loss for the Express, giving up five runs (three earned) over five innings. Miles Nablo came in to relieve Doughty and allowed three runs over his three innings of work. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tOne game in a baseball season is too small a sample size to determine any great conclusions. This is an important win, though. Down big early, and with the realization that the bullpen was going to be heavily taxed just to get through the game, the Bucks could have packed it in. Instead, they bounced back, showed offensive prowess and the bullpen locked things down. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe 2013 Bucks got off to an ugly start to their season before righting the ship and eventually winning 51 games. One year removed, this Bucks team got off to a disappointing start to their season. Now, they're ascending the standings and look to win their fifth consecutive game their next time out. \n<\/p>\n
