Waterloo, Iowa \u2013 The Waterloo Bucks have announced Scott Douglas will return as the team\u2019s Field Manager in 2018.\u00a0 Douglas\"\"<\/a> looks to build on last year\u2019s 39-33 record that saw Waterloo with the fourth best overall record in the Northwoods League North Division and the sixth best overall record in the 20-team NWL.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate the opportunity and privilege general manager Dan Corbin and the ownership group have given me to be a part of the Waterloo Bucks organization,\u201d said Douglas.\u00a0 \u201cWe have been in the hunt for the postseason the last two seasons and have improved the win total both years.\u00a0 We need to find a way to avoid the injuries in the second half and make that next step in becoming a playoff team.\u00a0 I signed up to win the NWL title; maybe this is the year.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2017 under Douglas, the Bucks saw a three-game win improvement from the 2016 season.\u00a0 Although Waterloo missed the postseason, they were in the playoff hunt until the final game of the regular season. Milestone victories such as overall (playoffs included) franchise victory number 800 and 800 regular season wins were captured in the 2017 campaign.\u00a0 Under the guidance of Douglas, the Bucks sent three players to the NWL All-Star Game and one to the NWL Major League Dreams Showcase.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bucks organization is beyond excited to have Scott Douglas return for the 2018 season,\u201d said Bucks general manager Dan Corbin.\u00a0 \u201cHaving a manager with his coaching experience allows for top-quality recruiting and player development.\u00a0 He has a great presence both on and off the field.\u00a0 We know Scott will do a super job managing the team this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Douglas, a resident of Lakewood, Colorado, spent 2006, 2007, 2014, and 2015 as skipper of the Regina Red Sox of the summer-collegiate Western Major Baseball League where his squads made the playoffs all four years, clinching the Division pennant twice, and advancing to the Final in 2015.\u00a0 Douglas was voted the WMBL\u2019s Coach of the Year in 2006.\u00a0 In 2012 and \u201813, Douglas was the Head Coach at Colorado Christian University.\u00a0 Prior to that, Douglas was the Head Coach at Trinidad State Junior College from 2000-2012.\u00a0 In 1997 and \u201998, Douglas was an Assistant Coach at the University of Northern Iowa.<\/p>\n

Beginning his coaching career in 1990, Douglas was a Head Coach\/Player in the semi-professional\/collegiate Saskatchewan Major Baseball League for three seasons.\u00a0 From 1992-\u201996, Douglas was an Assistant Coach at Hardin-Simmons University.\u00a0 Douglas then moved on to the pro ranks, becoming the Third Base Coach for the Moose Jaw Diamond Dogs in the Prairie League and was promoted to Field Manager mid-season, a post he held until the end of the 1997 season, adding the title of Assistant General Manager along the way.<\/p>\n

Douglas played his collegiate baseball at Waldorf Junior College and Hardin-Simmons before playing professional baseball for the Regina Cyclones of the North Central League and for Moose Jaw from 1994-\u201995.\u00a0 In 1994, Douglas graduated from Hardin-Simmons with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science Degree, then earned a Master of Education Degree in Sports and Recreation Management from HSU in 2000.\u00a0 Douglas is currently the Facility Manager at the Gold Crown Foundation in Lakewood, Colorado.\u00a0 He and his wife Keri have two children, Kade (15) and Seth (12).<\/p>\n

The Bucks open the 2018 season at home on May 29 versus the La Crosse Loggers at Cost Cutters Field at Riverfront Stadium where the team welcomed a new state of the art video board in 2016 thanks to a matching grant from the Black Hawk County Gaming Association.\u00a0 Team ownership has invested more than $170,000 in improvements since the end of the 2014 season including painted bleachers, public Wi-Fi, sound system, group outing areas, kids zone inflatables, and concessions equipment.\u00a0 Fans are encouraged to stay in touch during the off-season with the Bucks by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com<\/a> or utilizing the Northwoods League Mobile App.\u00a0 Tickets are now on sale by calling the Bucks\u2019 Ticket Line at 319-232-5633.<\/p>\n
