{"id":9578,"date":"2019-11-05T19:58:20","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T19:58:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/waterloo-bucks\/?p=9578"},"modified":"2020-03-09T16:59:49","modified_gmt":"2020-03-09T16:59:49","slug":"bucks-release-2019-community-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/waterloo-bucks\/2019\/11\/05\/bucks-release-2019-community-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Bucks Release 2019 Community Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Waterloo, Iowa \u2013 The Waterloo Bucks have released their second annual Community Report showcasing the organization\u2019s efforts in supporting the Cedar Valley in 2019.\u00a0 The 12-page report features the work of the Bucks around the community and inside Cost Cutters Field at Riverfront Stadium throughout the calendar year.<\/p>\n<p>Through the <em>Our Bucks Community Initiative<\/em>, the Bucks collected over 1,700 pounds of food for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank with the <em>Step Up to the Plates<\/em> <em>Program<\/em>.\u00a0 In its second year of existence, Bucks staff and players attended over a dozen farmers markets collecting fresh produce for families in need in the Cedar Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Other community efforts included the fourth year of the <em>Bucks Summer Reading Program<\/em> which resulted in over 120,000 minutes read by elementary-aged children in the area.\u00a0 The Bucks also partnered with The Accel Group and West Bend Insurance to donate money to Friends of the Family for every Waterloo stolen base at home this summer, resulting in a total of $2,000.\u00a0 Another endeavor saw the Bucks partner with the <em>Northwoods League Foundation <\/em>for the <em>Share the Glove Equipment Grant Program<\/em> which awarded $2,500 in youth softball equipment to the City of Dike Recreation Department.<\/p>\n<p>The entire 2019 Waterloo Bucks Community Report can be downloaded here:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/northwoodsleague.com\/waterloo-bucks\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2019\/11\/2019-Community-Report-smaller.pdf\">2019 Waterloo Bucks Community Report<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Bucks play their home games at Cost Cutters Field at Riverfront Stadium which welcomed a new state of the art video board in 2016 thanks to a matching grant from the Black Hawk County Gaming Association.\u00a0 Team ownership has invested nearly $400,000 in stadium improvements since the end of the 2014 season including group outing areas, painted bleachers, public Wi-Fi, sound system, kids zone inflatables, wiffle ball field, and concessions equipment.\u00a0 Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks by utilizing their website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waterloobucks.com\/\">www.waterloobucks.com<\/a> or utilizing the Northwoods League Mobile App.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"># # #<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Waterloo Bucks are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The 25-year old summer collegiate league is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 200 former Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (BOS), Jordan Zimmermann (DET) and Curtis Granderson (MIA). \u00a0All league games are viewable live via the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/linkprotect.cudasvc.com\/url?a=http%3a%2f%2fportal.stretchinternet.com%2fnwl%2f&amp;c=E,1,TUwVe0tGja6T25V6ytkWmVGT1A6peJTblsLa8iMVi8fJAXn34oLLAMywSG8rzfWQAgCO7i5oCd3Qvk7EmGFzTli-gZKYAm2wg66b2Vskol02hGiCjDjh&amp;typo=1\"><em>Northwoods League portal<\/em><\/a><em>.
