The Fourth was an even more productive frame, where the Habaneros got through 10 batters and scored seven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Wausau, down by 10 and facing a run-rule loss, stormed back in the fifth with a Brooklyn Hofer (North Dakota) sacrifice fly that brought home a run, and then a massive opposite-field grand slam to right from Mia Johnson (UW-Parkside), her seventh homer of the year and third in the last two games.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The comeback attempt would fall short, however, as the Ignite fell for the 10th-straight game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Game two of the doubleheader is set to begin at 7:20 pm CT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">###<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leveraging the 31-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) is the first for-profit Women\u2019s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.\u00a0 The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.\u00a0 Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wausau, WI-\u00a0 The Ignite cut a 10-run deficit in half in the fifth inning, but couldn\u2019t complete the comeback in  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":35931,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[13,14],"tags":[42,46,43,19,45,41],"class_list":["post-35930","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-team-news","category-update-ticker","tag-collegiate-softball","tag-ignite-softball","tag-northwoods-league-softball","tag-nwl-softball","tag-wausau-ignite","tag-wausau-ignite-softball"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.5 (Yoast SEO v26.5) -
