\n\tWILLMAR, Minn.—Hits came few and far between Wednesday night, but the Stingers made the most of their seven hits to back Brady Anderson and the best pitching performance so far in a 7-0 win over Duluth at Bill Taunton Stadium.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAnderson had already started one game this season—the home opener last Thursday—but came out with a no-decision in the eventual 5-4 loss to the St. Cloud Rox. This time around though, Anderson was rock solid on the mound, throwing eight innings of one-hit ball before finally exiting the game at the end of the eighth having thrown over 100 pitches.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAnderson was on from the first inning and set down the Huskies in order during the first two innings. What little trouble he ran into came in the third inning when he walked the second man in the inning, Grady Caldwell, with one out. But as he did throughout the night, Anderson continued to locate his pitches and got the final two outs of the inning on a flyout and fielder's choice groundout. \n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe only hit Anderson surrendered came in the sixth inning, a blooper into shallow right field. After finally getting touched for a hit though, Anderson came back strong again and the next batter Chase Kiefer grounded to third, as the Stingers sent it around the horn for a double play to end the inning.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tEven though Anderson was over 80 pitches going into the eighth inning, he headed back out to the mound for arguably his best inning of work, and the last two batters of the night summed up his whole performance on the mound. After plunking Keach Ballard with one out in the eighth, Anderson stranded him by striking out the next two batters with pinpoint pitch locations. Neither could reach the outside pitches, as Anderson left to cheers from the Stinger faithful.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tWith the dominant peformance from the early going by Anderson, the offense also came through with plenty of offense for their starting pitcher. In both the first and second innings the Stingers tallied four runs on just two hits, as walks and errors aided the offensive effort. Alex Borglin, who started his second straight game at first, led the Stingers with three runs scored, although he only had one hit on the night. He scored in the second and sixth innings on walks and came around to score again in the eighth after he singled to lead off the inning.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Stingers tacked on two runs in the sixth and the lone run by Borglin in the eighth to give Anderson and TJ Whidby, who closed out the game on the mound, more than enough breathing room.\n<\/p>\n
\n\tAnderson (1-0) picked up his first win of the season with his gem of an outing, while Huskies' starter Riley Sanderson (0-2) suffered the loss in five innings of work.\n<\/p>\n
