\n\tWATERLOO, Iowa — Luke Chevalier (Northern State) was lights out Monday night in Waterloo, bringing a no-hitter into the eighth inning and earning a key 6-2 victory in the Stingers' playoff hopes.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Bucks' starter began his day by striking out six of the first seven Stingers batters. At that point, Chevalier stole the show by cruising through seven hitless innings.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Stingers provided Chevalier with four runs of support in the eighth inning. The first run scored when Harrison Schnurbusch (Central Missouri) walked with the bases loaded. Moments later, Luke Becker (Kentucky) cleared the bases with a three-run double to put the Stingers ahead 4-0.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWith a pitch count nearing 100, field manager Bo Henning let Chevalier pitch in the eighth inning until he gave up a hit. After allowing a leadoff hit, Chevalier exited the game to make way for Kale Latorre (Montevallo).\n<\/p>\n

\n\tChevalier finished having thrown 98 pitches, striking out five. He earned his second win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.91. He was named tonight's NWL Pitcher of the Night for the first time this season.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWaterloo attempted to come back from their deficit, but their hopes were snuffed out by Myles Smith (Georgia Gwinnett) in the bottom of the ninth. Smith earned his first save of the year.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the plate, starting catcher Carter Schmidt (Concordia-St. Paul) led the Stingers by going 2-for-2 with three walks. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Stingers are now 20-11 on the second half and 38-29 overall. They remain in second place in the second half, only one game behind Eau Claire. In addition, they have the third-best overall record in the North Division with five games remaining in the regular season. \n<\/p>\n
