Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- The Wisconsin Rapid Rafters welcome two Louisiana State University Tigers, Jordan Thompson and Brody Drost, to the 2021 roster.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Originally from Chula Vista, California, Thompson is currently a freshman infielder at LSU. Nationally he was ranked the 53rd player overall by Perfect Game for the class of 2020. The righty was also ranked 3rd<\/sup> amongst shortstops in the state of California.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m super excited to play for the Rafters this summer.\u201d Thompson said, \u201cI can\u2019t wait to have a great time playing ball and hopefully come home with a championship.\u201d<\/p>\n

Drost, also in his first year at LSU, was the 2020\u00a0Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year.\u00a0The Sulphur, LA native\u00a0was also ranked highly by Perfect Game. He was selected as the number one overall player in Louisiana and 20th overall outfielder nationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cSummer baseball has always been a big part of my life and I am excited to continue that with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters,\u201d said Drost. \u201cAs long as Wisconsin has gumbo and crawfish, I\u2019ll be great.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Having completed its\u2019 27th<\/sup>\u00a0season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 22 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, over 245 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (WAS), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist (CHC) and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS).
