Wis Rapids, WI – Friday morning the Northwoods League announced the 2023 Postseason All-Star Team and three members of the Wisconsin Rapi<\/span>ds Rafters were recognized for their great seasons\"\"<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outfielder Brendan Bobo was the lone Rafter hitter named to the squad. Before Bobo\u2019s departure, he was hitting for an average of .244 with team-high 13 home runs and a team-high 47 RBIs.<\/span>\u00a0Bobo\u2019s 13 home runs this summer are tied for the most home runs in the league alongside Duluth\u2019s Michael Hallquist, who is taking the league\u2019s Most Valuable Player award home. For Bobo, this is the second consecutive year he\u2019s been named to the Northwoods League Postseason All-Star Team, following a record-breaking campaign in which he hit 17 home runs in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the mound,\u00a0<\/span>two members from one of the league\u2019s top pitching staffs were honored as well. Right-handed pitcher Calen Graham and left-handed pitcher Josh Howitt were both selected to join the Postseason All-Star Team. The future Texas State Bobcat in Graham has posted a 4-2 record with an ERA of 2.14 across 14 outings throwing 46.1 innings on the mound.<\/span><\/p>\n

Left-handed pitcher Josh Howitt returns to the Postseason All-Star Team for the second consecutive season. The future Arizona State Sun Devil is tied with Graham with the most strikeouts on the team (42)\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and leads the team with a 0.69 ERA. On the season, Howitt went 1-2 through 12 appearances (nine starts) and allowed just three earned runs across 39 innings of wo<\/span>rk on the mound.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All three players were a part of the group Wisconsin Rapids sent to Traverse City in late July to represent the Rafters in the Great Lakes All-Star Game and a strong stretch run for each of them sees themselves placed on the list of the league\u2019s best players in 2023.<\/p>\n

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. The Northwoods League is the proven leader in the development of elite college baseball players. Now in its\u2019 30<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i> season, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 24 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff, over 325 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including three-time All-Star and 2016 Roberto Clemente Award winner Curtis Granderson, three-time Cy Young Award winner and World Series Champion Max Scherzer (TEX), two-time World Series Champions Ben Zobrist and Brandon Crawford (SFG) and World Series Champion Chris Sale (BOS). As well as 2019 Rookie of the Year and 2019\/2021 Home Run Derby Champion Pete Alonso (NYM) and 2021 All-Star, MLB Gold Glove winner and 2019 Second Team All-MLB shortstop Marcus Semien (TEX).
