\n\tNordman Brings Summer Collegiate Baseball Experience to Rafters Broadcast Booth<\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters have announced the hiring of their new radio voice, Jonas Nordman. Last summer, Nordman spent his time as the voice of the Northwest Indiana Oilmen of the Midwest Collegiate League where he broadcasted all of their regular season and postseason games. Nordman also handled all of the Oilmen’s social media and video editing duties.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t“We are very excited to add Jonas to the broadcast booth this summer,” said Rafters general manager John Fanta. “We have had three talented broadcasters over our first four seasons and look forward watching Jonas excel in this position as well.”\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition to calling all 72 Rafters games on AM 1320 WFHR with all home games additionally simulcast on nwltickets.com, Nordman will act as the Rafters traveling secretary and media relations coordinator, while assisting with additional video, audio, and graphic projects this season.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tNordman is a graduate of the University of Kansas where he gained invaluable broadcasting experience as a part of their award winning student radio station 90.7 FM KJHK. While at KU Nordman broadcasted Jayhawk football, baseball and Kansas basketball courtside at historic Allen Fieldhouse. KJHK allowed Nordman to call games live from the Galen Center in Los Angeles as well as the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City for the Big 12 basketball tournament. Nordman twice had the opportunity to call first and second round action from the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament in Tulsa, OK and Kansas City, MO.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tApart from game broadcasting, Nordman also co-hosted an award winning weekly sports talk show on KJHK. Over the course of the show’s four years, Nordman had the chance to interview many high- profile guests such as former Kansas Athletic Director Lew Perkins. Jonas also did work for the Kansas Athletic Department as the Public Address Announcer for KU softball for three years and KU Volleyball for two. His time with the Jayhawk Volleyball team allowed Nordman the chance to do PA announcing for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament held in Allen Fieldhouse.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tLast winter, Jonas spent time in Palm Springs, California as he broadcasted for the California Winter League. The CWL is the world’s biggest winter league as it attracts 200 players from around the globe to compete over two months in front of professional coaches and scouts in hope of signing a professional contract.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are a member of the finest developmental league for elite college baseball players, the Northwoods League. Playing its 21st season of summer collegiate baseball, the Northwoods League is the largest organized baseball league in the world with 18 teams, drawing significantly more fans, in a friendly ballpark experience, than any league of its kind. A valuable training ground for coaches, umpires and front office staff, more than 115 Northwoods League players have advanced to Major League Baseball, including Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (DET) and MLB All-Stars Chris Sale (CWS), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS), Curtis Granderson (NYM), Allen Craig (STL) and Ben Zobrist (TB).
