Two Wildcats Joining the Woodchucks
Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks announced the addition of two new players to the 2014 roster today. Catcher Zack Arnold and outfielder Ka’ai Tom, both from the University of Kentucky, will join the Woodchucks this summer. Kentucky is off to a 5 – 2 start this season.
Tom, a 5’9, 180 lb sophomore outfielder, is off to a great start in the 2014 season. Tom has started 6 of the first 7 games and is hitting .389. He was one of the top junior college players last season at Fort Scott Community College where he batted .387 with 11 home runs and 57 RBI’s in just 53 games. Tom, will be the second Hawaiian born player to play for the Woodchucks. Chevas Numata was the first, playing for the team two season ago.
Arnold, a 6’2, 180 sophomore, was drafted out of high school in the 27th Round by the New York Mets. He opted to continue his baseball career at the University of Kentucky instead of signing professionally. Arnold is a defensive weapon behind the plate, playing behind upper classmen at Kentucky this season. Zach was a fist team all-state selection in Kentucky and was named a 2012 Preseason Under Armour All-American, as well as an ESPN Preseason All-American.
