Newly Renovated Athletic Park Hosts A Jam-Packed, Fun-Filled 2014 Promotional Schedule

Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks have announced their promotional schedule for the 2014 season! The Woodchucks are entering their 21st year in Wausau and will open up the 2014 home schedule on Friday, May 30th in the newly renovated Athletic Park. The Woodchucks have put together an exciting promotional schedule for fans this summer that includes nine post-game firework shows, three bobblehead giveaway nights and a host of other nights that will give fans something to take home.

Opening Weekend

Fans will be able to attend the first game in the newly renovated Athletic Park on Friday, May 30th, with post-game fireworks to follow, presented by The Samuel’s Group. On Saturday, May 31st, the first 500 fans will receive a Woody Woodchuck Culligan bobblehead, presented by Culligan Water Systems. The Woodchucks will also host a fan fest that night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the new Pepsi Fan Zone. Fans will have an opportunity to meet the 2014 Woodchucks, in an event filled with autographs, food and inflatables for the kids. Grand Lodge Waterpark Resort Night rounds out opening weekend on Sunday, June 1st. The first 500 kids (12 and under) that walk through the gates will receive a complimentary waterpark pass, courtesy of Grand Lodge Waterpark Resort.

Bobbleheads

The Woodchucks will be giving away three different bobbleheads this season. Culligan Water Systems will start the bobblehead season out on May 31st with a Woody Woodchuck Culligan bobblhead for the first 500 fans that walk through the gates. Woody will also be featured in a hardhat and construction wear on Sunday, June 29th, in the Construction Woody Woodchuck Bobblehead Night, presented by The Samuels Group. The first 1,000 fans that come through the gates will take home this exciting bobblehead. Finally, Wednesday, July 9th, will give fans an opportunity to take home this season’s Farmer Woody Woodchuck bobblehead as part of Agriculture Appreciation Night presented by Ministry Health Care.

Giveaways

The Woodchucks have a number of giveaway nights planned for fans this summer. On Tuesday, June 17th, fans will receive a ceramic Woody Woodchuck Piggy Bank, presented by Cellcom. Fans will walk away with a team baseball for autographs courtesy of Office Enterprises on Monday, June 30th. As part of our Christmas in July promotion on Thursday, July 10th and July 17th, fans can add to their Christmas decoration collection with a Woodchucks Christmas ornament, presented by Wisconsin Valley Credit Unions. The first 500 fans will receive a reusable water bottle, presented by Advanced Disposal on Monday, July 28th. And on Friday, August 1st, the first 500 fans will be receive a Woodchucks hat presented by Dovorany Orthodontics.

Fireworks & Theme Nights

Athletic Park will feature nine firework shows this summer, some special guest appearances and, as always, some great theme nights to add to the overall experience of a Woodchucks game!

On Saturday, June 7th, we will be celebrating Woody Woodchuck’s birthday down at the ballpark. The first 500 fans through the gate will receive an OREO custard sandwich, presented by Culver’s.

The Woodchucks are also hosting several food & drink nights at Athletic Park during the 2014 season. The first such night is our Annual Eat-A-Plooza on Monday, June 9th. Dollar days will make an appearance on Wednesday, July 2nd , while we encourage everyone to come out for lunch at the ballpark during our day game on Wednesday, July 30th. And back by popular demand, Leiniekugel Night falls on Saturday, June 21st to kick off the first official day of summer.

The world famous ZooperStars will be taking over Athletic Park again to perform their crazy, antic-filled live show during the game, courtesy of Rib Mountain Paper.  Wausau Youth Baseball & Fast Pitch Softball Night, Wausau Region Chamber nights and the Fourth of July Red, White and Boom Celebration presented by Trigs, round out a fun-filled summer down at the ballpark.
