A five-run sixth inning and eight-run eighth inning were the difference for Green Bay as they defeated the Woodchucks in the first of Monday’s doubleheader, 15-6, at Joannes Stadium.

The Woodchucks (18-15) got off to a quick start as the used a two-run single from left fielder Troy Traxler to take a 2-0 lead after half an inning.  The Chucks led up until the bottom of the sixth inning, when the Frogs (16-18) tagged Woodchucks’ starter Robby Medel and reliever Sam Mahar for five runs, taking the lead at 7-3.

Wisconsin continued to fight as they scored three in the eighth inning, using four singles and an error on Green Bay second baseman Dane Hutcheon to cut the Green Bay lead to 7-6.

However, the Bullfrogs scored eight runs in the eighth inning off Woodchucks’ reliever Nate Mondou to put away the Woodchucks for good.

Eight of nine hitters in the Woodchucks’ lineup tallied at least one hit, while the Bullfrogs got at least one hit, one run, and one RBI from every starter in their lineup.

The Woodchucks are back in action Monday night as they host Green Bay in the finale of today’s doubleheader.  First pitch from Athletic Park is scheduled for 7:05 P.M.
