Wausau, WIS- The Wisconsin Woodchucks dropped the final game in a four game set with the La Crosse Loggers at Copeland Park Tuesday.

The game was scoreless was through three innings. The Woodchucks loaded the bases in the top of the third but were unable to cross a run as Ryan Day popped out and Ryan Howard grounded out to end the frame.

Albee Weiss got the scoring started with a solo home run in the fourth in his first game as a Woodchuck. The Loggers then took the lead in the fifth with two runs off two singles and an error.

Wisconsin tied it up in the sixth. Ryan Howard singled and Max Ponzurick doubled down the left field line, setting up Owen Taylor. After the Loggers made a pitching change, Taylor got a base hit to right, scoring Howard and evening the score at 2-2.

The Woodchucks’ starter, Kaylor Chafin, didn’t hit serious trouble until the sixth when the Loggers scored four runs. La Crosse got two hits, a base on balls, a hit by pitch and an error from the Woodchucks in that inning to go up 6-2.

La Crosse added another run in the eighth, but the Woodchucks would rally in the ninth. Owen Taylor singled, his second hit of the ballgame, and Ian Yetsko doubled to put the Woodchucks in business.

After Cody Hanke knocked in a run on a fielder’s choice, Daytona Bryden walked to keep the Chucks alive. LJ Hatch doubled to deep right center, plating two runs and making it a 7-5 game. However, Ryan Day grounded out to end the ballgame.

With the loss, the Woodchucks fell to 3-3 on the season. Wisconsin heads back home now and will play the Kalamazoo Growlers tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m.
