Mequon, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks were held scoreless through seven innings at Kapco Park Thursday, but Albee Weiss came through with a 2-RBI single in the ninth to push the Chucks to a 3-1 win over the Lakeshore Chinooks.

Through six innings Thursday, there were only zeros on the scoreboard. Devin Skapura started for the Chucks and gave up just two hits in six innings of shutout ball while Marshall Kasowski kept the Chucks off the board through seven innings.

The Chinooks broke the scoreless tie in the seventh with one run on three walks and a single. Reagan Biechler would replace Kyle Dohy to halt the damage and keep the score at 1-0.

Wisconsin tied the ballgame in the eighth. Al Molina walked with two down and Ryan Day pinch ran for him. Day scored all the way from first on an Owen Taylor double down the left field line.

The Woodchucks went ahead in the ninth. After a trio of walks, a fly out and a fielder’s choice, the bases were loaded for Albee Weiss with two outs. Weiss delivered with a 2-RBI single into left field, putting the Chucks ahead 3-1.

Robert Zeigler then took the mound in the ninth and struck out two to earn the save. Biechler received the victory, and the Chucks moved to 2-0 in the second half of the season.

The Woodchucks’ three-game road trip concludes tomorrow with a game against the Madison Mallards at 5:05 p.m. at Warner Park.
