Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters tallied 16 hits. twice as many as hits as the Wisconsin Woodchucks, at Athletic Park Tuesday night, and the Rafters went on to win 11-2.
Wisconsin Rapids wasted no time in taking the lead. The Rafters scored four runs in the first inning on four hits, including two doubles, and one walk. They added a run in both the second and third innings to go up 6-0.
The Woodchucks scored their first runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Jared Oliva led off the sixth with a double, advanced on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch. The Chucks got back-to-back-to-back singles in the seventh from Taylor Kohlwey, Mason Fischback and Ty Black, the last of which brought Kohlwey home.
The Rafters did a lot more damage in the seventh, scoring five runs on five hits and one error. Dustin Woodcock delivered the big hit of the frame with a two-RBI double scoring Bryce Jordan and Jake Sandlin.
The Chucks and Rafters will finish their series tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. at Athletic Park.
