Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks have added two new assistant coaches for the 2018 season. Shawn Kahre, current Pitching Coach at Vincennes University, and Reggie Lawson, current Hitting Instructor at Baseball ASAP, will be joining the coaching staff. Marcus Davis will be returning for his second season as Assistant Coach with the Woodchucks.

 

Shawn Kahre attended Vincennes University and played outfielder and pitcher for the Trailblazers from 2011-2013. Kahre then continued his academic and baseball career at Kentucky Wesleyan College as a pitcher. With the KWC Panthers, Kahre posted a 3.72 ERA in 19.1 innings pitched. After graduating in 2015, Kahre played a season of professional baseball for the White Sands Pupfish in New Mexico. In addition to coaching the Vincennes University Trailblazers, Kahre is currently an Associate Scout for the New York Mets.

 

Reggie Lawson was signed by the Seattle Mariners in the 2011 season. He spent three seasons in the Mariners system where he hit .242 with 15 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs, and 56 RBI. League He also played independently in the Frontier League with the Traverse City Beach Bums in 2015 and 2016. He hit .228 with eight home runs and 39 RBI. In 2015, he won the Frontier League Home Run Derby with five home runs. He was also named a 2015 Frontier League All-Star. In addition to his playing career, Lawson has been a Hitting Instructor with Baseball ASAP since 2014.

 

Marcus Davis played college baseball first at Walters State Community College in 2012 where he hit .450 with 16 home runs and 62 RBI in 61.  He then went on to play at Florida State University for one season, hitting .301 and finishing 24th in the country with 62 RBI.  Davis was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 24th round of the 2013 MLB draft.  Davis played with the Padres organization until May 2016 and then spent a season with the Chicago White Sox organization. Before becoming a coach at St. Xavier High School, Davis coached with the Princeton High School baseball team.  He was also a hitting instructor for the Harrison Brothers Camp in Cincinnati and for the All Star Baseball Camp in Cincinnati.
