Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks have signed two pitchers from Illinois State University. Matt Walker and Brent Headrick will join the pitching staff in Wausau this season.

 

LHP – Matt Walker | 6’3” | L/L | Sophomore | Illinois State University

Walker will join the pitching rotation in 2018. Walker appeared in 19 games with eight starts during his freshman year in 2017. He struck out 40 over 46 innings on the mound. Walker was named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week in May 2017. He was named to the Missouri Valley Conference and AFNI honor rolls. So far this season, Walker has a 5.26 ERA with 41 strikeouts through 39.1 innings of work. He has a 4-1 record. Walker is originally from Morris, IL.

 

 

 

LHP – Brent Headrick | 6’6” | L/L | Sophomore | Illinois State University

Headrick will contribute on the mound this summer. As a freshman in 2017, Headrick, made ten appearances with eight starts. He posted a 3.79 ERA and struck out 19 over 38 innings on the mound. He allowed only two runs over six innings in a quality start against Dayton to pick up his first collegiate win and tossed seven shutout innings against Evansville. Headrick was named to the Missouri Valley Conference and AFNI honor rolls. He has pitched 52 innings with 42 strikeouts so far this baseball season. Headrick is originally from Joliet, IL.
