Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks have signed pitchers Drew Holweger from Furman University, Alec Abdalah from LA Harbor College, and Lenny Gwizdala, a returning a Woodchuck from Northwoods University along with infielder Alex Toral from the University of Miami to the 2018 roster.
LHP – Drew Holweger | 6’3” | L/L | Sophomore | Furman University
Holweger will bring his arm to the pitching staff. Holweger pitched seven innings of relief this spring for Furman with four strikeouts. In 2017, he saw limited action with three appearances in relief. Holweger is originally from Springboro, OH.
RHP– Alec Abdalah | 6’0” | R/R | Sophomore | Los Angeles Harbor College
Abdalah is a right-handed pitcher from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. He pitched 75 innings with 62 strikeouts and a 7-7 record for the LA Harbor Seahawks. As a freshman he posted a 4.29 ERA in 79.2 innings pitched.
LHP – Lenny Gwizdala | 5’11” | R/L | Junior | Northwood University
Gwizdala returns for another season with the Woodchucks. Last season, he pitched 43.2 innings of relief, recording 42 strikeouts, two saves, and a 2.26 ERA. At Northwood University this spring, he spent 45.2 innings on the mound and posted a 3.55 ERA with 13 saves. Gwizdala is originally from Bay City, MI.
INF – Alex Toral| 6’1” | L/L | Freshman | University of Miami
Toral is a power hitter from Davie FL. He was a four year letterwinner in high school where he was selected as a two-time Under-Armour All-American and Perfect Game All-American. Toral was ranked the number 2 overall prospect among college freshman by Perfect Game and number 199 as an MLB draft-eligible prospect by Baseball America.
