Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into tonight’s game in Rockford coming off a tough 4-3 loss and were looking to split the two-game series.

 

The Woodchucks offense struck right away, scoring two runs in the top of the 1st inning with a sac fly from Jaren Shelby and an RBI single from Reese Alexiades.

 

The Chucks answered with another run in the top of the 3rd inning with Jaren Shelby coming home on a wild pitch.

 

Another three runs came in for the Woodchucks in the top of the 4th inning with an RBI fielder’s choice from Nick Loftin and an RBI sac fly from Jaren Shelby. This brought the Woodchucks’ lead to 6-0.

 

The Rivets answered with two runs in the bottom of the 4th  make it 6-2.

 

After a two hour rain delay, The game was called due to inclement weather in the bottom of the 7th inning and the Chucks held on for the 6-2 win.

 

 

Top Performers

 

Starting pitcher Mason Cole pitched a great game, going six innings, striking out two and allowing just two runs.

 

Chucks Shortstop Nick Loftin had a nice night at the plate with a double and he also added an RBI fielder’s choice.
