Wausau, WIS – The Woodchucks came into this afternoon’s game in Madison looking for the sweep and coming off a huge 21-12 win. The game was back and forth throughout, but the Mallards took the lead in the middle innings and held on for the 5-3 win.

 

The Mallards struck first with a run in the bottom of the 1st inning but the Chucks struck right back in the top of the 2nd inning with two runs coming home from wild pitches.

 

After the Mallards got another run back in the bottom of the 3rd, the Chucks also got a run in the top of the 4th inning with a RBI groundout from Brandt Broussard. This tied the game at 2-2.

 

The Mallards then got some runs in the bottom of the 4th and 5th to pull ahead 4-2.

 

The Chucks threatened in the late going but could not mount the comeback and dropped a tough one 5-3.

 

Top Performers

 

Chucks second basemen Brandt Broussard had a nice day at the plate with two hits, an RBI groundout and reached base three times.

 

Chucks right fielder Zach DeLoach contributed two hits and came around to score.

 

 Chucks starter Greg Dunham did a nice job keeping the team in the game going five innings allowing four runs.
