Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks finished their first homestand of the season with a close two-game series against the Madison Mallards. The Woodchucks lost 4-3 to the Mallards after fighting back in the ninth inning.

The Woodchucks got off to an early lead in the first inning with an RBI double from left fielder Nate Stinson. Later in the seventh inning, the Mallards evened the game at 3-3 with an RBI single.

The score remained tied until the ninth inning when the Mallards loaded the bases and scored one run to put them up 4-3. Relief pitcher Maddux Solomon came on in the ninth for the Woodchucks with one out and pitched the Mallards into a double-play to end the half inning. The Woodchucks stepped to the plate down by one run and in need of a score. Brandon Seltzer got things started with a single to center field. The Mallards then committed two errors and loaded the bases. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough for the Woodchucks to win the game.
