Where are they now?

Former 2011 Woodchucks player Tyler Heineman made his Major League debut last year on September 4, 2019 with the Miami Marlins, playing five games to finish out the season. He posted a .273 batting average in those five games with one home run, one double, and two RBI.

After eight seasons of  starting out in the minor league baseball system, Heineman finally got the call to start on Opening Day of the 2020 season for the San Francisco Giants, in the city that he was born.

Heineman started in place of Buster Posey as catcher. In only his sixth career MLB game, Heineman scored the game’s first run, recorded a pair of hits and helped Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto get through four innings of one-run ball against the Dodgers.

So far in the 2020 season, he’s played four games with the Giants, recording a .385 batting average and a .467 on-base percentage with one RBI.

With the 2011 Woodchucks, Heineman played catcher and first base. He had one homer run and eight RBI through 19 games. Heineman was drafted in 2012 by the Houston Astros.
