MANKATO, MN – Serena Timmer, a freshman catcher at the University of Minnesota Duluth, is the newest addition to the Habaneros roster. The Appleton, WI native is eager to bring her impressive skills to the Northwoods League as the season is mere weeks away.

Throughout her time at Appleton East, Timmer proved herself to be a formidable player both offensively and defensively. With a total of 218 at-bats, she had 45 runs, 51 singles, and 7 home runs. Her consistent performance at the plate is highlighted by a .408 batting average, an on-base percentage of .447, and a slugging percentage of .541 over her three seasons.

Defensively, Timmer demonstrated reliability with 149 putouts, 41 assists, and a solid .941 fielding percentage. Her quick reflexes, strong arm, and keen game sense make her a valuable asset behind the plate.

With June 16th just around the corner, fans and players are ready to get the season underway. With the newest addition to the team, Timmer will add depth and talent to the Habaneros’ roster. Her presence behind the plate is expected to enhance the team’s defensive stability, while her offensive capabilities promise to be a significant boost to the lineup.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
