MANKATO, MN – Another doubleheader against the Minot Honeybees was quite the impressive showing from the Habaneros lineup. After the series split on the 16th, the Habaneros go two-for-two in the second doubleheader to move into first place.
Game one started with Paige Zender (Iowa State) picking up right where she left off. Going two-for-three with a HR with 2 walks showing her dominance at the plate.
The same can be said about Jessa Snippes (University of Minnesota). Starting her night by going four-for-four with 1 walk in the first game.
Defensively Brooke Holmes (St. Cloud State University) stood out with her 6 catches and 3 putouts.
After a decisive win in game one, the Habaneros continued to apply pressure.
Serena Timmer (University of Minnesota-Duluth) started her second game of the night as catcher showing complete dominance behind the plate with 11 putouts to her name.
Jessa Snippes took the mound for the Habaneros in what looked to be her best start of the young season. Throwing all 7 innings, striking out 10 batters while only allowing 4 runs. She threw 130 pitches, 88 were strikes.
The Habaneros took the second game 12-4, giving them sole possession of first place with 4 days off before a home and home against the La Crosse Steam.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024. The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
