MANKATO, MN – Two big wins for the Habaneros as they took down the Honeybees in some doubleheader action.

Game one resulted in a 10-run rule as the Habaneros won 11-0 in 6 innings. Almost every player in the lineup brought in a run to cement the win.

Serena Timmer (University of Minnesota-Duluth) had 3 runs, 4 putouts, and 1 assist in the first outing.

Madelyn Birling (Bryant and Stratton College) and Joscelyn Bennett (Bryant and Stratton College) both had 2 runs and Birling brought in an extra 2 runs as well.

Jayme Scheck (Drake University) earned her 8th win on the season in quite an impressive showing. She faced 19 batters, had 4 strikeouts, and ended her night with a 3.14 ERA.

Game two was another notable showing from the Habaneros lineup.

Emma Lee (Trine University) continues to impress as she had 2 runs which continues to increase her batting average which now sits at .347.

Paige Zender (Iowa State) was a force defensively with 10 total chances all ending in putouts ending her evening with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

The Habaneros will face the Honeybees again before heading home to take on the Steam.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
