Returning to the Mankato Habaneros for another season, Indigo Fish is making waves at the plate in 2025! A standout from [Winona State University], Indigo has been a force to be reckoned with, boasting an impressive .420 batting average over 88 at-bats, racking up 37 hits along the way. Whether it’s her disciplined approach, clutch hitting, or ability to spark the offense, she will continue to be a key contributor to the Habaneros’ lineup. Keep an eye on Indigo this season she’s just getting started! 

As a freshman, Indigo Fish began her collegiate softball career at UW-Superior, where she quickly established herself as a formidable player. She posted an impressive .362 batting average with 116 at-bats, totaling 42 hits. This strong foundation set the stage for her continued development after transferring to Winona State University. Now, in just the early stages of the 2025 season, Fish has nearly matched her previous season’s hit total despite having 28 fewer at-bats to this point in the season. A testament to her growth and dedication. Her standout plays in 2024 earned her First Team All-Conference and All-Defensive Team honors. 

Beyond the diamond, Fish is a leader in her community. She organized “Knock Cancer Out of the Park,” a charity softball game dedicated to raising funds for breast cancer research. Her commitment to making a difference extends beyond sports, reflecting the values instilled by her family. With a deep connection to UW-Superior, where both her grandmother and uncle studied teacher education and visual arts, Fish continues to make an impact both on and off the field.  

Fish expressed her excitement about bringing a competitive edge to the Mankato Habaneros this summer. She is always striving to be the best version of herself every time she steps on the field. When asked about her development at Winona State, Fish emphasized the impact of her coaches, calling them the best she’s ever had. She admires their competitive drive and passion, which they instill in every player, helping her elevate her game to the next level. 

Come see Indigo Fish and the Habaneros play at ISG Field for the season kickoff on June 12th as the Habaneros faceoff against the Minot Honeybees at 6:35pm.

Leveraging the 31-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) is the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League in the Upper Midwest entering its second season in the summer of 2025.  The purpose of the League is to provide an opportunity for players to develop for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment. League games are viewable live on Northwoods League+ (at watch.northwoodsleague.com), ESPN+, Women’s Sports Network, and the Northwoods League Network.
