The Mankato Habaneros are excited to welcome their newest player, Finley Anderson, to the team! A standout at {Minnesota State University, Mankato}, Anderson has been making waves this season with an impressive .446 batting average. Her dominant performance earlier in the year earned her the title of NSIC Player of the Week, following an exceptional showing during the team’s trip to Florida. With her powerful bat and fierce determination, Anderson is sure to be an asset to the Habaneros as they continue their season. Welcome, Finley!

I asked Anderson how she’s handled her early success at Minnesota State. There’s something to be said for riding a hot streak while staying grounded and composed. Anderson shared that she thrives off her teammates’ energy, emphasizing that the environment she’s in plays a major role in her success. A supportive and encouraging team culture, she says, makes all the difference. Unfortunately, Anderson suffered an injury early in the season with the Mavericks and has been sidelined for several weeks, but with her positive attitude and strong mindset, there’s no doubt she’ll bounce right back.

Just 29 games into her freshman season at Minnesota State, Finley Anderson’s stats are nothing short of spectacular. She leads the team with a 1.449 OPS and has already notched 4 home runs and an impressive 23 RBIs. Since arriving on campus, Anderson hasn’t blinked, carrying her momentum confidently into the upcoming Habaneros season.

When I asked Anderson what led her to choose Minnesota State, she said she knew it was the right fit from the start. After speaking with the MSU outfielders coach during the recruiting process, her decision became clear. Originally from Aurora, Illinois, Anderson said the coaching staff made her feel welcome and comfortable right away.

Looking ahead to the Habaneros season, I asked Anderson what she’s expecting and if anything makes her nervous or excited. She shared that she’s especially excited to get back on the field following her injury, ready to make an impact once again.

Lastly, I asked Anderson what she wants her future teammates to know about her. She said she’s extremely passionate and brings a lot of positivity to the field every day. Being a great teammate is a theme that keeps coming up when talking to future Habaneros, and Anderson is no exception. With that mindset, I expect this team to have each other’s backs and play hard every single night.

Come see Finley Anderson and the Habaneros play at ISG Field for the season kickoff on June 12th as the Habaneros faceoff against the Minot Honeybees at 6:35pm.
