MANKATO, MN – A much needed bounce back win for the Habaneros as they defeated the Steam 6-3 this afternoon.

Jayme Scheck (Drake University) earned her 7th win on the season as she faced 27 batters, had 7 strikeouts, and ended her day with a 3.00 ERA.

Sailor Hall (Minnesota State University, Mankato) continues her great at-bats of late, scoring 2 more runs on the day and bringing in 1 as well.

Amity White (University of South Alabama), Paige Zender (Iowa State), and Emma Lee (Trine University) all continue to impress at the plate as they each brought in a run as well.

Defensively, the Habaneros continue to amaze. In total, they had 21 putouts and 9 assists.

The Habaneros will look to keep this winning energy alive as they had to Minot for a 3-game series against the Honeybees.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024.  The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play.  Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
