LA CROSSE, WI – The La Crosse Steam dropped both games in a doubleheader against the Madison Night Mares at Copeland Park, with scores of 12-3 and 6-3, respectively. A crowd of 512 fans witnessed the games.

Game 1 Recap: Steam starter Rachel Mori pitched four innings, allowing six earned runs on 16 hits. The Night Mares’ starter matched her with four innings, conceding two earned runs and striking out two.

The Night Mares continued their offensive momentum from the previous night. They struck early with a Carly Oliver RBI single, a Hilary Blomberg RBI groundout, and a Brooke Steinhorst RBI double.

The Steam responded with a two-run homer by Calli Janik, but the Night Mares added three more runs in the second inning. Key hits included an RBI single from Cloe Wamboldt, an RBI double by Haley Remington, and an RBI single from Hilary Blomberg.

Madison’s offense kept up the pressure in the third inning with a Rylee Rogers RBI double, a Carly Oliver RBI single, and a Haley Remington two-RBI triple. Chloe Wamboldt’s two-RBI single in the fourth inning extended the Night Mares’ lead to 12-2. The Steam managed one more run in the bottom of the fourth, courtesy of an Ashley Wolfe RBI single, but could not close the gap. The Night Mares secured a decisive 12-3 victory, improving to 3-1, while the Steam fell to 1-3.

Game 2 Recap: The Steam started strong in the second game, with an RBI single from Calli Janik in the first inning and a two-run homer by Teagun Graul in the second, making it 3-0. The Night Mares began their comeback in the fifth inning with a Kayla Thomas RBI groundout and a Chloe Wamboldt inside-the-park home run, narrowing the score to 3-2.

In the top of the seventh inning, Madison tied the game on an RBI groundout by Haley Remington. Hilary Blomberg’s two-out double drove in three more runs, sealing the Night Mares’ 6-3 victory in extra innings. The Night Mares improved to 4-1, while the Steam’s record dropped to 1-4.

La Crosse will host the Minot Honeybees tomorrow, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
