Coach Kiernan enters his 1st season with the La Crosse Steam.
Coach Kiernan has coached several sports including softball for 30 years. Coach Kiernan also has coached travel teams along with 6 years of coaching in the W.P.S.L. and N.P.F. women’s professional teams. He is the only active C.C.C.A.A. softball coach in the hall of fame. He has helped over 400 student-athletes receive four-year college scholarships. Including schools like U.C.L.A., Arizona, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UNLV, South Carolina, California, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Cal State Fullerton, CSUS, CSUN, and Liberty University. Coach Kiernan has won 22 conference championships as head coach at Sacramento City College. Coach Kiernan’s teams have appeared in 21 State Championships, winning four and having 6 runners-up.

Coach Kiernan has an 1158 and 260 softball coaching record at Sacramento City College including three State Championships and one National Championship. He has coached seventy-eight Community College All-Americans, 10 Division I, and 12 Division II All-Americans. He has had seven former Panther players in the College World Series. His teams have won over fifty Community College softball tournaments.

Coach Kiernan has 19 A.S.A. National Championship appearances. He has a 2962 and 340 record as an ASA travel coach. He has spoken at many softball clinics throughout the world. He has coached U.S. teams in Canada, Italy, and Australia. He still coaches the women’s golf team at Sacramento City College.

Coach Kiernan has an AA degree from American River College, a BS degree from Central Michigan University, and an M.A. degree from Central Michigan University.

Coach Kiernan resides in Sacramento, CA with his wife, Debbie.
They have a daughter, Kara, and a son, Sean, who both graduated from San Diego State University.

Brandi Alonzo

Coach Brandi Alonzo enters her 1st season with the La Crosse Steam.
Brandi Alonzo joined Viterbo at the start of the 2015 season and enters her 10th season as the head coach of the softball program.

From year one to year two, Alonzo doubled the V-Hawks win total from 5 to 10, then more than doubled it again in year three with 22 wins. Alonzo has had eight players receive All-Conference Honors, and eight players named NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Before joining the V-Hawks, Alonzo spent two seasons serving as assistant coach at NCAA DIII Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Alonzo helped the team win 39 games after the Vikings tallied just 22 victories the previous two years. In 2014, Alonzo helped improve the team’s batting average to .321, the Vikings’ highest average in over 15 years. In 2013, Lawrence finished as the runner-up in Midwest Conference finish with a school record .966 fielding percentage. In addition to organizing defense workouts and infield and outfield drills, Alonzo created and implemented the team’s strength and conditioning program.

Before her tenure in Appleton, Alonzo, a native of Franklinton, Louisiana, spent two years coaching at Louisiana State University-Eunice, a National Junior College power. As assistant coach with the Bengals, Alonzo helped LSU-E to 111 wins, two NJCAA DII Region 23 Champions, and a 2011 National Championship. In her first year, the Bengals set tournament records for runs scored, team batting average, and fielding percentage.

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Alonzo has spent time as an administrator, individual hitting instructor, and manager at Players Choice in Appleton. At LSU-E, she created and provided oversight to fundraising events, organized team camps and summer camps, and supervised multiple student workers.

Alonzo attended the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration. She played outfield and middle infield for the Golden Eagles, playing in over 200 games and earning Conference-USA All-Freshman team honors.
