MANKATO, MN – Indigo Fish, a freshman infielder from UW-Superior is the newest signee as we are just a few days away from opening day. With only one season under her belt, Fish has produced quite an impressive lineup of stats so far.
In high school, Fish was a three-sport athlete in softball, hockey, and volleyball. She achieved multiple all-conference awards, including first team selections for softball and volleyball as a senior, was named team captain for softball as a senior, played in two state championship games for hockey and softball in 2023, and maintained a spot on the honor roll as a prep.
With a total of 116 at-bats, Fish has 32 runs, 13 doubles, and 3 home runs. Over the course of those games, she maintained a batting average of .362, a slugging percentage of .586, and an on-base percentage of .436. Defensively, Fish was quite impressive in her first year. She had 166 putouts, 41 assists, and a .967 fielding percentage.
Indigo Fish’s addition to the team brings not only a wealth of talent but also a proven track record of excellence and versatility. Her impressive statistics and accolades from high school through her freshman year at UW-Superior highlight her as a formidable player both offensively and defensively. Fish’s ability to balance multiple sports while maintaining high academic standards speaks to her dedication and discipline, traits that will undoubtedly benefit the team. As the new season approaches, the anticipation is building in Mankato for the inaugural season of the Habaneros.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024. The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
