
MANKATO, MINN. – The Mankato Habaneros were held scoreless Thursday night, falling 4-0 to the La Crosse Steam at ISG Field.
The Steam broke a scoreless tie in the third inning and added two more runs in the sixth to secure the victory.
Despite the loss, Kylinn Stangl (University of Minnesota) turned in a strong performance in the circle. The right-hander tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out eight batters across seven innings.
The Habaneros matched La Crosse with six hits but left nine runners on base. Addie Garr (Augustana College, IL) led Mankato offensively with a pair of hits, including a double. Ava Parent (University of Wisconsin), Olivia Pichardo (University of California), Sailor Hall (Pittsburgh State University) and Morgan Kostecka (Wisconsin – Green Bay) each added a hit.
The Habaneros will look to bounce back as they face the Minot Honeybees on Sunday in Minot. First pitch is at 6:05 pm.

Leveraging the 32-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) is the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League that began play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024. The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
