MANKATO, MN –It’s an exciting week for the team as they welcome a new standout player. Freshman infielder Joscelyn Bennett joins the Habaneros roster, ready to contribute her skills and a positive mindset. The team is thrilled to have her on board and looks forward to seeing her grow and excel in the upcoming season.
She has only played 41 games at Bryant and Stratton College but is already posting great numbers. With a total of 113 at-bats, Bennett has 39 runs, 10 doubles, 8 home runs, and 13 stolen bases. Over the course of those games, she has maintained a batting average of .469, a slugging percentage of .858, and an on-base percentage of .520. Defensively, Bennett has 62 putouts, 24 assists, and a .935 fielding percentage.
With such impressive stats in her freshman year, Bennett is poised to make a significant impact on the Habaneros’ lineup. Her offensive power, marked by her high slugging and on-base percentages, will add depth to the team’s batting order. Meanwhile, her reliable defense will strengthen the infield’s resilience. Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024. The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
