MANKATO, MN – Brooke Holmes, a freshman infielder from St. Cloud University is planning to bring her skill to the Habaneros this summer. The Savage native had quite the career at Prior Lake High School and that talent will be beneficial to the lineup as the season is just about to get underway.
Throughout her four years at Prior Lake, Holmes was a three-time SSC All-Conference honoree, two-time All-Section, First Team All-Metro in 2023, First Team All-State in 2023, All-State Honorable Mention in 2021, Defensive MVP in 2021, Offensive MVP in 2023, Team Captain in 2023, and the Prior Lake High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2023. In her senior season, Holmes had 41 hits with a .491 average while producing 15 extra-base hits and 27 RBI.
Her first year as a Huskie was just as impressive. She had a total of 164 at-bats with 19 runs, 37 hits, and 10 doubles. She also maintained a slugging percentage of .341 and an on-base percentage of .308. Defensively, Holmes shined in her 56 games this season. She had a total of 85 putouts, 129 assists, and a fielding percentage of .930, showcasing her reliability and consistency on the field.
Holmes’ impressive track record suggests she will be a valuable asset to the Habaneros. With her extensive list of accolades and proven performance both in high school and in her freshman year at St. Cloud University, Holmes brings a wealth of experience and talent. As the Habaneros gear up for the upcoming season, her contributions on both offense and defense will undoubtedly strengthen the lineup and provide a competitive edge.

Leveraging the 30-year success of the Northwoods League, the first for-profit Summer Collegiate Baseball League, Northwoods League Softball (NWLS) will be the first for-profit Women’s Summer Collegiate Softball League beginning play in the Upper Midwest in the summer of 2024. The purpose of the League will be to develop players for their college, Olympic and future professional play. Teams will be promoted similar to minor league baseball teams, playing games in front of fans in a fun, friendly, family-oriented environment.
