MANKATO, MN – The last two wins for the Habaneros have been nothing short of impressive. The 11-3 win on the 22nd against the Steam was exciting itself, but the most notable story from that game was Jessa Snippes.

The University of Minnesota freshman earned the win by throwing seven innings with one strikeout allowing eight hits, three walks, and two earned runs. Snippes earned the Northwoods League Pitcher of the Night award. To add to that imposing pitching, she also had a day at the plate going 2-for-2 scoring three times with a pair of two-run home runs and collecting 4 RBI.

Tonight was no different. A 4-0 win against the Night Mares at ISG was quite an exciting win. It was the Habanero’s 25th win of the season, bringing them close to clinching the championship.

Jayme Scheck (Drake University) earned the win throwing seven innings allowing five hits, one walk, and no earned runs. She ended the night with a 2.85 ERA.

Paige Zender (Iowa State) stole the show tonight as she hit her 10th home run of the season putting her far ahead in the standings of homerun leaders in the league.

Emma Lee (Trine University), Sailor Hall (Minnesota State University, Mankato), and Indigo Fish (Winona State) brought in the other three runs on the night.

The Habaneros and Night Mares will face off again tomorrow night in some doubleheader action as the Habs look to repeat tonight’s storyline.
