The Mankato Habaneros are thrilled to welcome back one of their key offensive leaders Amity White! {University of Southern Alabama} As the team’s reigning leader in hits and at-bats, Amity played a crucial role in last season’s championship run, delivering consistency and clutch performances at the plate. Her ability to set the tone offensively and come through in big moments makes her an invaluable asset as the Habaneros gear up to defend their title. With Amity back in the lineup, the Habaneros are ready to bring the heat once again this season!

White delivered an outstanding performance last season with the Habaneros, posting a .384 batting average across 138 at-bats, driving in 27 RBIs, and leading the team with 53 hits. This level of production is invaluable for a championship-caliber team. In addition to her success with the Habaneros, White is also a collegiate standout at the University of Southern Alabama, where she made a defensive impact with a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage. Her ability to excel on both sides of the ball makes her a key player to watch this season.

I asked White about her transition from Southern Alabama to the Habaneros, and she shared that it was smoother than expected. While college players are focused on progressing from regionals to super-regionals and ultimately a national championship, summer ball offers a more relaxed yet highly competitive environment. For White, embracing the game without added pressure played a big role in her success.

As a returning player for the defending champs, White acknowledged the target on their backs. With a tough road ahead, she emphasized the importance of being even better than last year and staying locked in taking it one game at a time.

A professional softball career isn’t out of the question for White, so I asked her about her future in the sport. Her immediate focus is on finishing her next two seasons at Southern Alabama, with the goal of making another regional appearance and ultimately competing for a national championship. As Habaneros fans, we know White is no stranger to winning so let’s cheer her on as she chases her next big achievement!

Come see Amity White and the Habaneros play at ISG Field for the season kickoff on June 12th as the Habaneros faceoff against the Minot Honeybees at 6:35pm.
