The newly announced Northwoods League Softball team coming to August will accept team name ideas until August 29th. The public can make submissions at GrandForksSoftball.com. The Team Name Contest, presented by Farmers Union Insurance, includes prizes for finalists and the winning submission.

“We have received over 200 name ideas so far, and it has been truly unbelievable feeling the excitement and the support for the team from the community so far,” said Roberto Lemus, General Manager of the team. “We encourage fans to keep submitting ideas. These ideas are also helping us learn more about the city, the community’s history, and what people want to see from the team. We are beyond excited to see more names this final week, and then to share this fun and exciting process alongside the Grand Forks community!”

The best three to five names will be announced the week of September 1. A public vote will then take place throughout the month to determine the winning name. The winning name, alongside the logo, will then be announced at an event at Albrecht Field in October. 

Prize: All finalists will receive (2) tickets to Opening Day, with a meal included as well as an inaugural season hat or visor. The winning submission will receive (2) 3-Game Packs for Life, an authentic team jersey, and a ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day.
