GRAND FORKS, N.D. – As the Grand Forks Spitfires season reaches the midway point, one of the organization’s most impactful community partnerships continues to leave a lasting impression both on and off the field. Through their partnership with Valley Senior Living, the Spitfires Sparks have become an unforgettable part of the Spitfires experience.
The Spitfires Sparks, made up of six Valley Senior Living residents, have already performed live twice this season, earning enthusiastic applause from fans and creating some of the most heartwarming moments at the ballpark. Whether dancing on the field or appearing on the videoboard during games they are unable to attend, the Sparks have become fan favorites, proving that enthusiasm and community spirit have no age limit.
The partnership extends far beyond game days. Earlier this season, Spitfires players Alex Graham, Adie Ferguson, Emma Peeples, and Sofia Meer visited Valley Senior Living to spend time with the Sparks, sharing stories, laughter, and meaningful conversations. The visit gave players the opportunity to learn more about the residents’ lives while building friendships that have made the partnership even more special.
For the Spitfires, these connections represent what community baseball is all about. The relationships formed between the players and the Sparks have created memorable experiences for everyone involved, making each performance at the ballpark even more meaningful.
“One of the goals we had when creating the Spitfires was to build relationships that extend beyond the baseball field,” said Roberto Lemus, General Manager of the Grand Forks Spitfires. “Watching our players connect with the residents at Valley Senior Living and seeing the joy the Sparks bring to our fans has been incredible. They’ve become a true part of our team, and the support they’ve received from our community has exceeded anything we could have imagined.”
The Valley Senior Living Spitfires Sparks continue to represent the spirit of inclusion, friendship, and community that the Spitfires strive to foster every day. Their performances have become a highlight of the game-day experience, while their relationships with players and fans continue to demonstrate the positive impact sports can have in bringing generations together.
With more performances still to come this season, the Grand Forks Spitfires look forward to celebrating the Spitfires Sparks and continuing a partnership that has quickly become one of the organization’s proudest traditions.
