FARMER, GREGG COMMIT TO MINOT HONEYBEES SOFTBALL

Tyler Junior College Utility Player and University of Jamestown Outfielder Will Play in Team’s First Season

 

MINOT, ND – Freshman utility player Sydney Farmer and sophomore outfielder Trinity Gregg will be coming to Minot to play for the Honeybees softball team in the team’s historic debut season.

 

Farmer comes to the Honeybees from San Jacinto, California after playing her freshman season for the Tyler Junior College Apaches. The Apaches finished 3rd overall in the NCJAA Region 14 Tournament, with Farmer scoring 4 total runs in tournament play including 1 run in their final game against San Jacinto College-South.

 

During the 2023-2024 season, Farmer appeared in 60 games where she achieved 74 hits and 64 RBI. She boasted 17 home runs and a batting average of .385. Her fielding percentage was .956 with a total 148 putouts and 4 double plays.

 

Before playing for TJC, Farmer played varsity softball at Heritage High School in Menifee, California where she maintained a batting average of .588 with 12 runs off of 20 total hits and 12 runs batted in. She appeared in 40 games across her high school varsity career, and she earned Inland Sports All-Area Softball honor during her senior year. In addition to softball, Farmer also played volleyball in high school.

 

 

Coming from just down the road from Minot, Gregg will be joining the Honeybees following her sophomore season with the University of Jamestown Jimmies. Gregg, who has played both outfielder and pitcher for the Jimmies, was named to the GPAC All-Conference second team in her freshman season. As UJ’s leadoff hitter, Gregg had 18 RBI, 9 doubles, 2 triples, and a batting average of .326 during her freshman year and was tied for the most hits on the team with 47 total hits. She pitched in one game in the 2022-2023 season.

 

In the 2023-2024 season, Gregg was named to the GPAC All-Conference first team, where she posted a .373 batting average, 53 hits, and 8 triples, the most of the team that season. She also held the team’s season record for runs scored at 40 and bases stolen at 13.

 

Gregg played varsity softball for the Barnesville Trojans in her hometown of Barnesville, Minnesota as well as for the Dakota Selects Diamond Academy softball team. In her two seasons with the Diamond Academy, the team won numerous championships and accolades, including the USA 18b Northern National Championship, and Gregg in particular was highlighted for her speed and slap-hitting ability on the team. In addition to her high school softball career, Gregg also played for the Barnesville Girls Varsity basketball team.

 

“I’m excited to be able to play more ball and meet more people with as much passion as I have for the game,” said Gregg. “I have been working [on my skills] so I’m still sharp by the time the season rolls around. Overall, I’m looking forward to a really fun summer of doing what I love!”
