BUHR, FLORES SIGN WITH MINOT HONEYBEES FOR 2024

Kansas Wesleyan Outfielder, Northern Kentucky Outfielder to Play in Historic Season

MINOT, ND – In the weeks leading up to opening day, the Minot Honeybees are continuing to announce more player commitments, with Kansas Wesleyan’s Josie Buhr and Northern Kentucky’s Victoria Flores arriving in Minot to begin practices.

Buhr, a senior, has spent the past two seasons with the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes, playing center field. A constant presence on the field, Buhr has started in all 33 games that she has appeared in in the 2024 season. Her time with the Coyotes has resulted in a career 20 runs off 33 hits, three doubles, and one triple. She has maintained a fielding percentage of .952 and has recorded 40 putouts. She committed only two errors.

Buhr transferred to Kansas Wesleyan after graduating from North Dakota College of Science with her associate degree. While at NDSCS, Buhr appeared in 105 total games, accounting for 271 total at bats. With an RBI of 52, she recorded 88 total hits and a batting average of .325. In the outfield, she held a fielding average of .820 and recorded 38 putouts while committing nine career errors.

“With this upcoming school year being my fifth and final year of playing collegiate softball, my goals are to have fun, be present, and to have no regrets once it comes time to hang up the cleats,” Buhr said.

Originally from Buffalo, North Dakota, Buhr played varsity softball at Central Cass High School, serving as a team captain. During her tenure, Buhr and her team won multiple regional and state championship titles. While softball has been her main sport, Buhr also excelled at volleyball and basketball at Central Cass. She also played with the Scheels North Dakota East All-Stars softball program.

Buhr is looking forward to forming friendships with her teammates, saying, “I know it’s early, but I’m already certain that with the laughs and experiences we’ve already shared, these are going to be long-lasting friendships I have with these girls, and I couldn’t be more excited about that.”

Flores, a junior from Zionsville, Indiana, will be tackling the outfield with the Honeybees this season. She has spent the past two seasons with the Northern Kentucky University Norse, frequently appearing as a pinch runner. While at NKU, she has recorded seven total runs and has successfully stolen one base. Flores was injured for much of the previous season, resulting in limited play-time.

Prior to joining with the Norse, Flores played one year at Lee University. She played in four games during her freshman year, resulting in a batting average of .333 and two RBIs. She held an on-base percentage of .500 and recorded one putout in the field with no errors.

Flores attended Guerin Catholic High School, where she played 3 years of varsity softball. At the conclusion of her high school career, she appeared in 66 games, held a batting average of .385, and scored 49 RBIs. She recorded 21 doubles, one triple, and four home runs. As an infielder – her position at that time – she maintained a fielding percentage of .935 with 43 putouts.

“I am most looking forward to getting to know all of the girls on the team and making friendships that will go beyond the game,” said Flores. “I am also very excited to be able to get a lot of reps to help me get back into the groove of the game after being injured this past season.”
