Recycling Program Raises $3,000 for McLit
Wausau, WI- The Wausau Woodchucks, Wausau Ignite, and Roastar are excited to give back to the community with a $3,000 donation to the Marathon County Literacy Council, or McLit. The donation was made possible through the success of a season-long aluminum recycling initiative at Athletic Park.
Throughout the season, Roastar partnered with the Woodchucks and Ignite to provide co-branded aluminum cups in each outing area at Athletic Park. Both these cups and all aluminum beverage cans were collected from the Leinie’s Deck, Leinie’s Party Area, Aspirus Health Terrace, First Base Patio, and Section 200 over the course of the season and recycled. Woodchucks and Ignite fans helped keep 318.7 pounds of aluminum out of landfills this season by utilizing specific aluminum recycling bins.
“McLit extends our heartfelt thanks to Roastar and the Woodchucks for their generous donation. Your support strengthens our mission to Improve the Quality of Life Through Literacy and empowers learners across Marathon County to build brighter, more confident futures,” says Connie Heidemann, Executive Director at McLit.
McLit seeks to improve quality of life through literacy by offering a variety of programs. Some programs include education and tutoring programs, including GED help, English as a Second Language classes, and Spanish as a Second Language classes, as well as financial literacy classes, driver’s education assistance, and health literacy education. McLit relies on donations to continue to provide these free resources to those in our community.
Due to the success of the program, we are excited to carry it into our 2027 season! Thank you Roastar for partnering with us on our aluminum recycling program to help give back to our community.
